Melissa MacLean
Clinical Counsellor, PAFCA

Melissa is a counsellor who works with both adults and young people. She supports clients navigating complex life transitions, healing from trauma, supporting parents around neurodivergence and exploring challenging personal experiences. She works with sexual assault survivors, parents of neurodivergent children, and people experiencing significant life changes.
Melissa worked in a Child Sexual Assault (CSA) counselling service for seven years, working with children, young people, and non-offending family members. She is also an academic at Western Sydney University, in the postgraduate counselling and psychotherapy programs, where she works with and trains new counsellors.
Melissa uses a person-centred, and trauma-informed therapeutic approach. She incorporates expressive therapies, including sand and art-making techniques to support her clients’ healing journeys. She believes in the power of the therapeutic relationship to create meaningful change. Her approach is characterised by ‘being with’ clients, walking alongside them, to create a supportive and collaborative therapeutic environment.
She is a registered clinical counsellor with Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA).
Melissa also provides counselling through Rough Patch. Rough Patch is an affordable online counselling service working to make counselling more accessible. You can access up to 30 sessions in 12 month period with a sliding scale fee.
And, Melissa is a registered and approved Victim Services counsellor.
Working days: Fridays 8am-1pm and other times by appointment.
